Cast iron is heavy by design — a 5.2-quart Dutch oven ships at well over a dozen pounds in the box. Carriers handle it fine, but check the box on arrival: a pot that survived a century of kitchens can still chip its enamel if a corner of the carton took the drop. Anything damaged in transit is a straightforward claim with the retailer.
